Plot summary
100,000 years in the past, a mysterious girl named Carla loses a golden ring on a frozen Antarctic shore. In the present day, seeking relief from a heatwave, Doraemon takes Nobita and friends on an iceberg playdate created with his “Ice-Working Iron” gadget. Nobita discovers the ancient ring encased in ice and asks Doraemon to determine its origin. When Doraemon finds that the ring was buried in Antarctica 100,000 years ago, he realizes its owner could only have lived in prehistoric times. The group dresses in winter gear and uses the Anywhere Door to teleport to Antarctica in search of the ring’s owner. There they thaw a strange blue, elephant-like creature (whom Nobita nicknames “Mosuke”) and unearth the ruins of a vast buried city.
Exploring the ancient Antarctic city, the friends inadvertently trigger a time-travel event, sending themselves 100,000 years into the past. There they meet Carla and her colleague Professor Hyakkoi, who are revealed to be the original owners of the golden ring. Carla also has a yellow pet elephant named Yuka-tan, who is analogous to the frozen Mosuke they found. As they confront these revelations, Doraemon’s presence and gadgets destabilize the timeline: the unnatural cold he’s caused threatens to plunge Earth into a new ice age. With ice beginning to spread rapidly, the group faces a crisis. To survive, Nobita, Shizuka, Gian, Suneo, Doraemon and the two elephants plan to escape by jumping forward 100,000 years in time. However, Doraemon and Yuka-tan become separated from the others during the jump, and their time-belt batteries run out, stranding them in the frozen past.
Unable to return, Doraemon recalls advice from his sister Dorami: a “lucky star” can save them. He hibernates Yuka-tan with the bag of gadgets (which contains the dead time-belt battery) to preserve them safely. Meanwhile, Nobita’s group returns to the present without Doraemon, only to realize that the frozen Mosuke they found is actually Yuka-tan in suspended animation. Mosuke (Yuka-tan) passes the gadget bag with the spare battery to Nobita. Reunited and powered, Doraemon and friends time-travel back to the ice age past. They rescue Doraemon and confront the threat—a giant ice monster rampaging through the ruins. Together the group defeats the monster and ends the immediate crisis.
In the aftermath, Doraemon and the children bid farewell to Carla and Professor Hyakkoi, who prepare to leave Earth and return to their home planet. Before departing, Doraemon uses a telescope to show Nobita that their planet’s ice is finally melting and returning to normal, indicating it has been saved by their actions. The film concludes on a light note as Nobita’s mother calls him to dinner, signaling that life has returned to ordinary routines after this extraordinary adventure.
